Chipboard Art, A Silhouette Promo & a GIVEAWAY!

It's that time again!  Silhouette is back to offer up a promotion for IHeart Organizing readers and is even is tossing in a GIVEAWAY today!  Double giveaway week for all you hot mama's out there!  Happy early Mother's day!  Smooch!

This month, Silhouette is promo'ing their new chipboard, so I thought I would show you one of the bazillion and twenty ways it could be used.  For those that don't know, chipboard is a thin cardboard type material that is often used for scrapbooking, but also could be used as labels, tags, cards, stencils, etc...

I have been eying up some gold letterpress art for my studio, and when I got the chipboard in hand, I knew that it was exactly my quickie DIY solution.  I have huge plans on rotating quotes and art within my space to keep it fresh and inspiring, so I thought to start out, I would create some motivational key words: "Be Inspired", "Create Magic" and "Love Life".  All three which completely represent how I want to feel while I am in the space.

To create the art, I started by popping a sheet of chipboard into the Silhouette, which I used to cut out all of the letters.

Once the letters were nicely cut out of the chipboard, I gave them all a speedy coat of pretty gold metallic paint.

After the letters were completely dry, I placed them on some colored cardstock, and determined approximate placement.

See how beautifully metallicy they are?  Love love love.

Next I snagged some clear craft glue...

And carefully traced each letter and placed it onto the cardstock paper.  I left a heavy object onto the letters to flatten them out a bit while the glue dried, since they were wanting to curl.

Once the glue was dry, I popped the art into their frames and called the project complete!

Although it is hard to tell in the photo above {glare on the glass and angle of the shot}, the letters give off a nice gold glimmer.

Now for the promo, so you can create endless objects and items with chipboard too!
