20 Fresh Face at Fresh Home Blog - Tool Caddy Organization

Remember when I shared my glee for being featured in Fresh Home Magazine as one of their "Fresh Faces"?

Well, life got a little sweeter when they asked me to hop on board as a Fresh Home Blog "Fresh Face" contributor!

So now, when you pop over to their blog, you may see a little somethin' somethin' written by yours truly, and if not, well, there is all sorts of other greatness always going on, and wonderful stories and projects from the other very talented contributors.

Today is my first post over on their blog.  Ever wonder what I did with that third and final utensil caddy I scored from Target awhile back?  {Remember, I used one for art supplies and other for cleaning supplies}

Well, I finally revealed how that third caddy is being put to use around our home... pop on over to the Fresh Home Blog to see how it all went down!

Update!  Fresh Home Blog is no longer active {they said it wasn't me, it was them, but isn't that how all break-ups end?}.  Therefore, I am publishing the post right here!

Utensil Caddy Turned Tool Caddy
Jennifer Jones: IHeart Organizing

We adore a good DIY project!  Whether we are recovering a chair or hanging some wall art, you can bet that we are toting around some sort of tool.  However, we found that we were always running to the garage to snag specific items from the tool pegboard.   Over and over again.  And then, instead of bringing them back to the garage when we were done, a small pile started to form on the kitchen counter near the garage door.  No good.

So when I stumbled across some great metal utensil caddies, I knew one would be the perfect solution to our troubled tool situation!

I started out by picking all of our favorite, most frequently used DIY tools:

The items we find ourselves grabbing for most are the following: Hammer, Allen Wrenches, Picture Hanging Hooks, Drywall Anchors, Philips Screwdriver, Flathead Screwdriver, Mini Philips Screwdriver, Utility Knife, Twine, Picture Hanging Wire, Mini Level, Hot Glue, Wood Glue, Staple Gun & Staples, Tape Measure and Pliers!

To contain the small hanging nails and screws, I used magnetic spice tins.

This way, they can just stick to the side of the caddy and keep the little things corralled neatly. I also adore that the tape measure can just clip to the side!

Everything tucks neatly inside!

Because I have a special love for organizing and labels, I used my craft machine to cut out a vinyl label for the side of the new tool caddy!

Now we have a caddy that we can tuck on a shelf in our laundry room, yet easily tote around the house when working on projects. No more random trips out to the cold garage to gather supplies or piles of tools left on the kitchen counter! That’s a huge win for us!
