I recently took a cue from young house love and made my hubs a sentimental birthday gift... he is an eagle scout so i picked out twenty merit badges and "awarded" them to him. i printed out a page with pictures of the badges and then a page with the names of the badge and the reason i thought he earned it. he loved it.

  37. Every year for Christmas my Grandmom gives each of us an ornament to reflect something monumental that has happened in the past year. One particular year she helped me sew a dress that I had designed. That year for Christmas my ornament was a itty-bitty version of the dress that we had made together using the scrap pieces of material. I love it so much I keep it out year round!

    Also for all my friends weddings I shoot pictures of the day/weekend of important things to spell out the couples new last name. It's always fun having them guess where each letter came from!

  49. In the show Up All Night, the mama wears a necklace with her daughter's name in script font. I didn't realize that I made a comment about how much I liked that necklace until I got one of my own for Christmas :) I love when the hubs listens like that!

It wont let me enter....keeps saying loading everytime I try :(.....we once had a year that we didnt have much going, through a hard time and my hubs went made me a big wooden heart with a poem on it....I still display it every year.....It is really not the material things....everytime I get that heart out it makes me weepy and happy to see how far we have come.....

  54. After my mom passed away I was a wreck at Christmas time. Ever time there was a sappy commercial I totally lost it. The worst one for me was about giving teddy bears to a military charity, because all kids need teddy bears. I can't tell you how many times I sobbed thinking about all those kids without bears. So that Christmas my husband bought me two bears, one for me and one to donate to the charity.
    That may be the only time in 10 years that he has EVER given me a truly heartfelt gift, but I will never forget it!

  68. My parents house burned down when I was in college. My dad was somehow able to salvage some of my mom's silver. He made each of us a windchime with one place setting of silver and a serving piece. It's a little quirky but it's really special.

It was during a time I was just out of college and couldn't afford to come home. My dad was sick with Cancer and it was hard being away. One of my Aunts sent me the tickets and I couldn't be more thankful to her. Brought me and my mom to tears!

  88. I received a my grandmother's dollhouse a few years ago. Everything in the dollhouse was handmade by my great uncle. As a child I was only allowed to stand on a stool, my hands behind my back and just look at all the little trinkets inside this huge three story dollhouse. Now I am way too old to play with it, but someday I look forward to passing it down :)

  111. I've been fortunate to receive many sweet, sincere gifts but I think one of my favorites is a silver and turquoise bracelet cuff from my grandmother. It was a gift her 2nd husband and true love bought her on their honeymoon - she gave it to me two months after he passed away, which made it that much more special and sentimental.

  169. My Dad is a silversmith and each year for Christmas and birthdays he makes me a unique, one of a kind piece of jewelry. I just got married this past August and he made my wedding band. I'll wear it everyday for the rest of my life and I NEVER get tired of telling people that my Dad made it for me, making a special piece of jewelry THAT much more special :)

  171. the sweetest gift i ever got was from my father, after he'd passed away. he bought my sister and i a set of gold plated "12 days of christmas" ornaments. when they showed up on our doorstep some time after he died, my mom, unaware he had bought them herself, hid them until christmas day. my sister and opened our own up that day, and my mom told us the story. it was the hardest, and best christmas ever....
