42 DIY Chipboard Boxes, A Silhouette Promo & a GIVEAWAY!

I am so excited to be sharing a Silhouette Promotion and giveaway with you today!  It's a good one!  I always LOVE having the opportunity to gift one of my readers with one of my most favorite machines ever.

First, I thought I would share my most recent Silhouette project, and then get into the nitty gritty of the promotion and giveaway.

I always need little boxes to store little things.  Typically, small craft items in my studio, but also bobby pins, jewelry, sewing supplies, etc....  I thought I would try my hand at creating a couple with my Silhouette.

I started out by downloading a box and cover template from the online store, which I then cut out of chipboard using the Silhouette.

I used a total of four sheets of chipboard.  Two for the bottoms of the boxes, two for the lids.

The Silhouette cut the template, which I then folded, scored and assembled using small dabs of hot glue.  They are so darling!

To give them a small splash of color, I whipped out my spray paint.

Did you know you could spray paint chipboard?  Me either.  I thought I would give it a whirl since I typically spray paint objects on top of cardboard, and it seems to stick to the cardboard just fine.  It stuck to the chipboard just fine as well!

Once the paint was cured and dry, I used some Washi tape to tape a small edge at the bottom of each lid.

I painted that small lip with some liquid gold leaf.  You could also use a gold Sharpie marker or Liquid Leaf Pen.

And that was it!  Tada!  Super adorable little storage boxes!

This girl never met a pink and gold box she didn't like!

Now for the promotion!  Great prices going on right now on the Silhouette machines and the Designer Edition Software over at the Silhouette Online Store with code ORGANIZING at checkout.

    1. Hi Shirley!

I am unsure about that. The larger one I created measures about 3.75" wide/deep.

      xo!

  11. Perhaps there is a more environmentally friendly alternative to all that spray paint?

    1. You could paint them with acrylic paint by hand, and they'd turn out pretty, or you could buy colored chipboard. Gluing ribbons on them for stripes, colored tapes, including those all the rage fancy Duck Tape, strips of, or cutouts of, scrapbook papers, on an on.....

I want to be the one to make the cutest box next year that everyone fight over ( and surprise all of them with an exact box)

  33. I know this post is a little old but I just have to ask, where do you spray paint over the winter? Do you have somewhere inside to do it? I am in MN and I usually just pack my paints away over the winter (admittedly I am not a native to this climate so maybe I am missing something?). The smell is so strong inside even if I did have a space that could take the overspray. How do you do it?

    1. Hi Catherine!

We use a small portable heater in the garage occasionally while working on projects during cold months. We only use it quickly for projecting and try to do a couple at a time, but it has been helpful for me this winter. I typically go through painting/projecting withdrawals for 6 months of the year around here! :)

      xoxo!
