20 Progress Report: Teen Boy Bedroom & Closet - A Blank Canvas!

We are finally here! The day I have been waiting for over a month worth of sanding, patching, painting, painting some more, assembling closet components, swapping outlets and switches, adding hardware, and installing base, casing and crown mouldings. The room was completely reconstructed and we are now left with an absolutely wonderful blank canvas for our growing boy.

Above you see a glimpse of our son's bedding. He picked it out last summer when we started talking about this room update, and it has been the foundation for all of the color selections in the room thus far. It is a combination of bold plaid on one side and a small scale gingham on the other, I absolutely love how the two patterns compliment. We have always wanted to do a darker ceiling and thought this would be the perfect time to play. But with a louder ceiling choice I wanted the walls to sort of fade away, so the final two colors ended up being Benjamin Moore Blue Dusk for the ceiling and Sherwin Williams Nebulous Cloud on the walls.

This point in the game my mind starts racing! This room could still go in a bazillion directions and my ideas are spilling out of me like I have been hopped up on a 30-day straight caffeine binge. These blank spaces hold so much potential, but can quickly downward spiral (been there, done that), so I am moving our son back in and taking a few days to nail down some of the bigger decisions. We have picked out a few things, but as we all know, those can change too! It always seems like one thing leads to another, eh?

As you can see a couple images back, the map we DIY'd years ago is still there. Not because I was so attached to it that I couldn't let it go, but just because I don't really have a solution for anything that is any better. We like the overall grand statement that it makes, but really aren't partial to it staying or changing.

He also has the same bed and headboard, also because it is still functioning fine and the color of the fabric still works. I am considering spraying the frame black though, just to give it some new life and a little more substance.

We are going to play with some patterns through layering bedding, which I always love to mix and match. Just like any designer will tell you not to purchase all of your furniture from a single showroom, I feel the same way about bed linens! Something from here, something else from there. Large patterns with small patterns. To get started I tossed some mossy green throw pillows on the bed and really liked the color combo and the warmth it added to all of the grays and blues.

Speaking of warmth, I am definitely planning on bringing in some wood tones, both in the closet rods and baskets, and also through some sort of shelving or over-the-desk organizer.  The desk is awesome (we have this one), and it is a really great size for our son to spread out and work on all of his projects and homework. He is also using a stand-in chair from another room until we can get him something comfortable and special. I am keeping my eye on Craigslist for a chair I can reupholster to give him a little cush for his tush.

Now that everything is trimmed out, we are 100% sold on adding a decorative sliding door to conceal the closet opening and strange trim solution. We must have gone back and forth on the trim for the closet opening about a hundred times and I am still not sure about the solution. Is it weird that a piece of trim just ends into a wall like that? I didn't think it would bug me, but it sort of does. But I have also been looking at it for far too long now. We will be adding a long black track and building a door with a pattern (here is the inspiration door), which should then conceal the trim when closed.

As far as the closet unit, I have gotten a few questions regarding which pieces we purchased specifically. We selected this tower/frame, this pull out shelf, these drawers and these shelves.

Everything was purchased from IKEA and I am super stoked about how much storage was added! The drawers and pull out tray are really good sizes! The soft-close function is always a much-appreciated bonus feature!

So far I added some of this paper to the back of the entire tower, and I might just have enough to also do the wall behind his hanging area. We still have to add a top shelf and the double hanging rods, and then I will decide for sure. The pattern is absolutely perfect for making the most out of every inch of the paper.

You may also have noticed the new drawer hardware! I had been eying up these pulls originally but came across some with a similar shape for half of the price (I purchased mine from Wayfair for about $3.70 each, but they have since gone up in price. I also found them reasonably on Amazon here). The only problem was the finish was much shinier than the inspiration pulls, so I also grabbed a can of flat black spray paint and now they look really sharp on the new drawers!

Another really great find was the light fixture! It's about a 12" diameter, and with a higher-wattage bulb puts out plenty of overhead light! We are also toying with the idea of adding some wall sconces above or on each side of the large map.

So although we still have a lot to think about and decide, we have such a great base and some great pieces to hit the ground running. Here are a few more specifics:

1 //  Closet storage is from IKEA and designed from these Pax components: tower/framepull out shelfdrawers and shelves. This is the wallpaper and here are the pulls used (spray painted in flat black).

2 //  I saw this sliding door and promptly showed my son and he was all about it. Which was great news because so was I! Isn't it amazing? Everything down to the color is calling our names, so we hope to build something inspired by that design. We already purchased this hardware and the installation of it all is sure to be a bit of a learning curve!

3 //  The original navy ikat style curtain panels are coming back (fabric source)!

4 //  But those panels are being hung on some new black hardware!

5 //  You saw the light already, but it is an awesome price and is pairing so well with the other metals selected in the room. Props to Home Depot for having such a huge lighting selection online!

6 //  We have quite a few natural wood frames in our home and they are always one of those "for sure / no fail" accessory items. I was bummed when Target stopped selling my favorite ones, but I recently found some at TJ Maxx and I am collecting a few more! We had previously purchased some vintage bomber prints from this Etsy shop and they are coming back also.

7 //  No one wants our son to air his dirty laundry so a lidded hamper is a must!

8 //  I "borrowed" this lamp from our other son's room, and it just feels at home here. It is the right color and scale and style, so now they get to play the musical lamp game for a while. I am sure it is just as fun as musical chairs...

9 //  We have this large metal desk which works hard for our hard worker; there is plenty of surface space and even room for some storage below. I love the idea of popping some casters on it to give it a bit of an industrial vibe.

10 //  I have been eying these wood shelves for some time, but also think they could be DIY'd and customized a bit. This is just some idea chit chat for above the desk, but I am still exploring all of our options and wanting to pick what will help our son best.

11 //  I wonder if our son even knows how to read this type of clock? I kid (sort of), but it would be a stylish time teller, that is for sure!

12 //  This is the chair he is borrowing for now, until we can find his something a bit cozier.

13 //  I haven't purchased his new sheets yet, but I am considering these for now. Definitely subject to change.

14 //  This thin stripe pillow is off-the-charts versatile and plays nicely with the plaid and gingham patterns on the duvet.

15 //  And for some texture and warmth, some mossy velvet pillows too (similar).

16 //  Last but not least, the duvet cover that inspired it all!

Last week I hoped I wouldn't see a squirrel and get distracted, and although I have my hands in a few different projects right now (not all for me!), we definitely got a lot accomplished again. The trim alone was probably the biggest game changer with all of the projects so far, it just added that polished finish that the new paint jobs were needing. The lighting and hardware also brought some positive drama. And now that the ball is rolling full speed ahead, our son is over-the-moon happy about it all.

Time to finish installing the closet and get to organizing! Whoop whoop!

You can catch up on the entire room update by checking out the closet plans here and how we patched the wall removal here.

30 Good Reads: Where I Find My Organizing Inspiration

I just completed my first of four organizing projects for this month, and I can't wait to photograph it and share it with you! As I initially sat down to plan each problem area and went through all of the whys and hows and thoughts, I found myself reaching for my organizational library. Before I started blogging, there was no such thing as Pinterest. The majority of the ideas I found and utilized were from the pages of (gasp) books and magazines! And no matter what technology continues to throw my way, I will never stop loving a beautiful book or a glossy magazine. I find endless amounts of pleasure just flipping through tangible pages and taking in all of the advice and visual inspiration. In fact, I am an extremely visual person. I am sure there are a lot of really wonderful books that teach organizational principles, however, I find I am much more likely to hop off of the couch and tackle a drawer or closet immediately upon seeing a beautiful photo of one.

So, as I grabbed for my big stack of books, I thought that I would take a moment to share my favorites with you. The common thread between each of the books/magazines I am featuring today is that they are all filled to the brim with gorgeous imagery that correlates to a plethora of tips, tricks, advice, strategies and solutions for organizing every last nook and cranny of your home.

Unfortunately, some of the books and magazines on my list may no longer be available to purchase online or on newsstands. I didn't want to leave them out of the running though because I have noticed that on occasion publishers will release updated printings, and older versions and copies may be found at second-hand bookstores or are still available through sellers online.

Isn't it fun to find out what makes friends, family, and fellow bloggers tick? Well, these books are my vice and love language and receive my attention all year long (but even more so in January). Above and beyond the helpful tips and mighty imagery, here are a few more reasons these books and magazines stay within my reach at all times.

REAL SIMPLE THE ORGANIZED HOME

Real Simple, The Organized Home was one of my very first organizing books. The cover is damaged and the pages are falling out, but it remains one of my all-time favorites. Last year an updated version hit newsstands in the form of a bookzine, and it is equally as wonderful.

Real Simple's photographs are right in line with their name; simple. And that is what I love about them. They are clean, and therefore inspire me to clean!

Both versions of the book will take you room-by-room and not only share ideas and tips for each space, but also identify the basic building blocks to put together a highly functional and easy-to-maintain home.

Bonus: Flip to the back pages to find common items that are challenging to let go of, and some guiding principles to aid you in your quest to living with less.

MARTHA STEWART

Although Real Simple was my first organizing book, Martha Stewart was my first organizing idol. She was the queen of making organization look beautiful (not sterile or boring). Oh, the details! Painted pantries, decorative label holders, collected canisters... Who would want to mess up any of those lovely systems? I grew up watching Martha on television, and I am still in awe of her tips and craft products and kitchen gadgets. Good Things for Organizing is another room-by-room format, sharing storage solutions for just about anything a space can hold. And the rooms featured are relatable and look lived in, not just staged in a studio.

The Martha Stewart Organizing bookzine also includes storage solutions, in addition, it offers quick life hacks like adding grommets to your kitchen towels and rubber gloves so they easily hang on hooks under your kitchen sink. You name it, there is a solution for it!

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

I know not everyone feels the same, but I truly find pleasure in housekeeping. That said, I also want to learn how to do it more efficiently and effectively. I received the Good Housekeeping Simple Household Wisdom book for Christmas, and it has been a wonderfully quick read complete with tested tricks that are sure to save time and sanity. Did you know dishtowels were deemed the most contaminated spot in the kitchen? Swap those out daily friends! And that you should never use clothing stain remover on the carpet? #guiltyascharged Are you loading your dishwasher with all of your dishes facing inward? That is where the spray is the strongest. Page after page of endlessly helpful tidbits of information.

This year I also picked up Good Housekeeping's bookzine titled Get Organized! I figured if they had such good household tips, I had to know what their thoughts were on organization.

I absolutely love that these pages are filled with EASY solutions, some that can be done in 8 minutes or less! And with that, they don't offer any more than 8-10 simple tips for any given area. This ensures I don't feel overwhelmed or discouraged to tackle my bedroom closet or my overflowing desk drawers. So approachable and motivating!

STYLE AT HOME

I think that I am meant to be a resident of Canada (heck, a few hour drive and I suppose I could be!). Their designers and editorials for interiors are the ones I find myself seeking out more than any others. Hello! Sarah Richardson! Come and decorate my house, please! Style at Home Magazine, thank you for sending me a digital copy of your pages every month! You do color SO right!

I am truly madly deeply in love with how Style at Home does white, I love how they do color, I love the finishes they showcase and the fresh and clean feeling their spaces emote. So when I found out they released an occasional special edition issue solely focussed on organization... Wowza! My heart burst into a million little fluttery hearts.

And these magazines are everything I hoped they would be and more. Colorful organization paired with real life tips that blend seamlessly with the decor (always my personal goal). Everything from setting up an effective workspace to maximizing your kitchen cabinet space, they have it covered. It also looks like they have a newer issue I haven't personally flipped through yet, but it was just added to my shopping cart! I am grateful that you can purchase all of their past special edition issues here, I wish more magazine publishers offered that option to their readers.

STORAGE MAGAZINE

I don't think I have missed an issue of Storage magazine in the last 8+ years! And of course, the magazine has a special place in my heart since they gave us a huge multi-page feature a couple of years back. I had the personal pleasure of working with Better Homes and Gardens for quite a few years, and they really have an impeccable eye for amazing interiors and the specific details that make a house a home. I especially appreciate when they focus on the organizational details that help a home run smoother.

I have personally learned quite a bit from this magazine; the clear shoebox drawers under our kitchen sink have been working hard for us for many years now, and switching all of our towel rods to hooks has been life changing for our kids (and ultimately for us as well). This quarterly publication packs a lot of punch with solutions for every room in the home, garage included, as well as hot new storage and organizational supplies that are designed to simplify daily life. These types of magazines always feel like a splurge, but they are generally ad free and I learn from them so I try to justify it every couple of months.

BETTER HOMES & GARDEN'S ORGANIZE YOUR HOME

I will never forget the day this book showed up at my front door back in 2013. I locked myself in the bathroom for hours, shriveling up like a prune in the bathtub while I scoured every last page. Although I have read this book cover to cover multiple times, it is still one I reach for quite frequently. I especially appreciate that they call out some of the trickier items that need to be purged, with advice on how to dispose of them, and/or the best locations to donate things like books, old cell phones, prom dresses, etc...

The pages are filled with motivational quotes and quick hits, and this book taught me that labels don't solely have to be made from white and black labeling tape, that beautifully lined drawers make an impact and why clear acrylic organizers will always be my favorite. I also find it helpful that they will show a full room view, and then break it down into smaller details and strategies.

CLEANING BOOKS

Cleaning and organizing go hand-in-hand, and often times folks will resolute to organize spaces around their home, and also to make some changes in the cleaning department. Whether it be to make homemade cleaners, to implement 15 minute daily pick-ups, or to deep clean one room per month, there are a few books that can offer you some guidance.

The Organically Clean Home and The Naturally Clean Home are my homemade cleaner bibles. I have quite enjoyed making my own cleaners over the years as there is something so wonderful about knowing all of the included ingredients while saving money and packaging. And with the help of these two books, no matter what the mess, I can find a remedy using items I already have on hand. One of my dear friends, Becky, is about to release her next book, and I am counting the minutes! The girl is a cleaning genius!

Not only do visuals of organized desks and closets inspire me to get off my tush and work some magic, sparkly counters and sink fixtures and bright white baseboards motivate me to go clean something!

Real Simple Cleaning certainly shares how to make your counters glisten and keep those baseboards white, as well as tips for maintaining household appliances. The photography is stunning and "clean" while the tips are easy and straight forward. Want to put together a solid cleaning kit? This book will help you out with that as well. Now when you go room-by-room to organize, you can add a little extra sparkle to your projects!

REDBOOK!

Shameless plug starts in 3...2...1...

I have learned so much over the years, whether it be through reading and research or trial and error, and I now get to share my favorite tips and tricks monthly as part of an amazing collaboration with Redbook magazine! You can find me on the front pages of each issue, tossing around extremely simple and doable ideas. I have chatted about tips for organizing under the bathroom sink, putting together helpful caddies for around the house, solutions to create the ultimate command station and tips for DIY'ing darling storage boxes. This month we re-created solutions from our boy's playroom while adding in a couple of new elements and ideas! This opportunity has been so much fun and a whole new way to share my love for organizing with the world!

__________

Some people collect mugs, others collect baseball cards and vintage tea sets, and I collect organizing books and magazines. When things in my life start to feel a little overwhelming, opening these pages brings me a great sense of calm. And generally all of our organizing projects stem from one of two places; I either grew really frustrated with a particular system and decided to deal with it on the spot, or I saw an amazing picture that sparked a new idea.

What inspires you to take on a new organizing project? Are you a need to read about it or need to see it type of person? What organizational or cleaning books should I add to my list?

33 HGTV 2017 Dream Home Tour

A couple of weeks ago I received one of those "once in a lifetime" opportunities. As a long time fan of the HGTV Dream Homes, I have spent many hours watching the annual Dream Home tours recorded on our DVR, and clicking through the HGTV website while dissecting all of the beautiful Dream Home images. Every year they do something really different, and although not every home they design is my style, they still tend to offer up a variety of ideas. Up until recently, each year they would build a new home in some of the most desirable parts of the country, and deck it out with amazing features and jaw-dropping design around every corner. I mean really, can we all agree that Linda Woodrum can slay any room that she works on? The colors, patterns, and textures... sigh. The 2015 home in Martha's Vineyard will always be one of my absolute favorites.

Last year HGTV decided to take a new approach and opted to remodel instead of build, as they felt renovating was more inspiring and relatable to their audience. They also brought in a new designer, Brian Patrick Flynn, who has an ability to create fresh, family friendly designs full of personality and color. I admire so many spaces and elements from his portfolio, that I couldn't wait to see what he "dreamed" up for this year's home. Speaking of, this year they renovated a 3,200 square foot home in St. Simon's Island, GA. Here is a sneak peek at the original home before they worked their magic.

The kind folks at Delta Faucet have been a long time sponsor of the HGTV Dream Home, and with that, they were able to invite a few blogger's to check out the home in person. And imagine my surprise when I was one of those three lucky ladies?! I couldn't hit that reply button fast enough, and within a couple of weeks of receiving the email, I was already packed up and on a plane heading to a darling little island in Georgia.

First and foremost, the island is about as charming as they get. We took a little time in the morning to get to know the location by eating at a local cafe, exploring some shops and antique stores, driving the quaint tree covered streets lined with unique and delightful homes, and even catching a few glimpses of dolphins swimming in the ocean. I find so much peace near the water, and that alone is enough to make me want to pack up my clan and move...

Oh! And say hello to my beautiful friends! I am sure you already know these sweet gals; Mandi is the ridiculously creative talent behind Vintage Revivals, and Sarah of Thrifty Decor Chic has the ability to create a magical and cozy warmth in every room of her gorgeous home.

The first pleasant surprise about this house was that it completely blended into the neighborhood. It doesn't scream mansion or unobtainable or jump up and down begging for attention. It makes sense; it is simple yet elegant.

I instantly started snapping hundreds of photos, and most of them speak for themselves, but I will be sure to call out the things that make my heart race and what I personally found to be interesting and inspirational. Like this wooden porch ceiling! I have been wanting to do something similar to our front porch and seeing this ceiling really sparked some excitement.

I especially love it paired with the oversized wood doors. The stone driveway and simple white shakes on the exterior were also a lovely welcome to the home. Also, yes to oversized plants flanking the door (but I would probably layer some larger doormats there too).

* Interesting fact - the area under the side windows was made from crushed shells found on the island.

As you walk through the front doors, this is the very first sight, and it is breathtaking.

You can see directly through the home to the backyard (which is my absolute favorite area of the home), and the neutral decor allows all of the attention to be on both the incredible view, and that stunning pecky Cyprus wood ceiling!

The ceiling is such a lovely detail in the home, and it adds endless amounts of warmth. And can we talk about that oversized chandelier? It is the crown of the room!

Although this is a formal space, it doesn't feel too precious. I can see kids kicking their feet up on those slipcovered sofas, and many great conversations being had here.

Back to the entry; just inside the doors you have a few options. You can head straight into the living area, take a right into the guest wing, or go left to the dining room.

Above you can see the bathroom that acts as both the main bathroom, and a private bath for guests that can be closed off along with a nearby bedroom.

A single color scheme was used throughout this bathroom, yet a lot of visual interest is created through the patterns in the tile and wallpaper.

OK, so this next room shocked me. I know it is one of those spaces that you will probably either love or hate, and I have to say, I loved it!

This room is not a color palette I have used or a style that I would generally associate with my liking, so I was really surprised about how I reacted to it.

All of the pattern mixing paired with the peacock blue trim felt so rich and layered. The room truly hugs you when you walk in, and I am now wanting to add a plethora of patterns and layers to my own boys' bedrooms.

Stripes and plaids and checks, oh my!

This room also made me want to go home and paint all of our trim and doors a really amazing color (but that is not going to happen so I will just live vicariously through this house).

The dining room is probably my least favorite room in the house. No offense to the room, everyone has to have a favorite and a least favorite... And I know moody is totally in and hot right now, but I am not 100% there yet.

Maybe it was because the dining room felt more urban loft to me? And I wasn't drawn to the light fixture, but I know a lot of people really fell hard for it.

There are definitely some beautiful elements in the dining room; I really liked the art selections and all of the layered textures (especially the ceiling again). It just felt a little dark and modern in comparison to the rest of the home.

The main living area is open to the kitchen; again with a family friendly vibe and neutral color palette. The star of the show is the green backsplash, which really got me excited because I had just put in my order for a colored backsplash myself!

Greens are very prominent throughout the home, inspired by the outdoors and the island landscape. The kitchen was layered in multiple tones of green; it is used in the counters, cabinets, backsplash and even on the custom cabinet hardware. Also, a huge hooray for taking the storage all the way up to the ceiling!

Are you seeing those pulls? They are wrapped in a green leather! So unique and a detail worth the splurge. Everyone was talking about the hardware.

Well, the hardware and the faucet!

Why the faucet? Well, first, let me show you!

Delta Touch 2O Kitchen Faucet from Jen Jones on Vimeo.

Did you see that? I touched it and it turned on. I just might be easily amused, but it was addicting and fascinating! The faucet is smart enough to know when it is being touched to be turned on, and grabbed to swivel or pull down the spout. As a girl who has always been a bit of a clean freak, this feature in the kitchen really had my head spinning. Imagine never having to turn on your faucet with hands covered in chicken guts or paint. Just tap and boom, water. Oh! And the soap pump also had a smart sensor, also making it easier to wash and rinse away grime and germs. IHeart technology.

A table for five in the kitchen offers an ideal view of the backyard. I would probably plop down here with my morning cup of coffee and find it hard to get back up. I would want to eat from this spot, work from this spot, parent, play games, do puzzles, sew, read and relax from this spot. Because, the view. Let me show you the view!

The backyard was breathtaking. I would like to replicate this backyard down to the palm trees, pergola, pool, and puppy house.

Bad day? No problem! Let's just go sit by the water until the sun sets. You know, just after we do a few laps and then grill our dinner which we will eat under our pergola party lights. And once the sun says goodbye for the day, we can grab some graham crackers and chocolate and roast marshmallows around the fire with our dear friends.

I mean, totally just something I came up with. I swear I haven't been dreaming, obsessing or fantasizing about this backyard space at all... #yeahright

OK, still so much more to see, do you need to take a break? Maybe grab a glass of water? Or stretch? Or look up funny memes on the internet?

Back inside of the house, there is a "pool room" that is wide open to this glorious backyard.

The walls are covered in a blue vinyl grasscloth, making them pool and kid-friendly, while also looking beachy and chic. I loved seeing more of the pecky wood on the fireplace mantel, I also loved the navy sofa with the leather chairs.

This room also sports a minibar area which really makes this space the ultimate friends and family hangout!

And of course, a pool house with a pool room should also have a nearby pool bathroom. And this girl is not feeling blue about the gorgeous wallpaper. In fact, I have a big ol' crush on it!

I especially love the wallpaper paired with the wood mirror and all of the brass accents. I am not sure I can pull out any new descriptive words to adequately express my love for the faucet either. But it is good, so very good.

As is that peacock blue trim and door color making its way back into the hallway.

Do you like to workout? If so, how do you make the time? When is your favorite time of the day to work out? Do you like to work out at home or at a local gym? So many questions! Well, I struggle to make time to work out as much as I would like, but I suppose if I won in this dream house, I could hire someone to do my dirty work so I could work out more often. Because of course, there is a room for that too! Planked ceiling with a drop down television included.

HEY Mandi!

This area of the home also has a bedroom boasting floor to ceiling shiplap walls done in a glossy white sheen.

The room felt so open, airy and fresh, and so much of it had to do with the moldings and wall detail.

And I am pretty sure I need to organize my books by color and stack them in my office. I am kind of surprised I have never done that actually.

The bathroom has really tall ceilings, so to amp up the basic tub, floor to ceiling curtain panels took the place of a standard shower curtain. This is absolutely a trick I want to try in our home, even with our standard ceilings heights.

The master suite is on the opposite side of the home, also opening up to the patio and the pool.

Can you see yourself waking up to that view every. single. morning?! Well, one lucky HGTV viewer will be next year! #jealous #iwakeuptosnowbanks

This room is quite large and grand, making it the perfect candidate for a saturated color painted on the walls and the ceiling. Even with the ceiling painted, all of the windows paired with the white floor to ceiling window panels kept the space feeling bright and airy by day, and romantic and moody by night.

This is a dream home, of course the oversized closet complete with storage and an island causes your eyes to turn into hundreds of little hearts.

The master bathroom was another room high on my lust list. I am a bath taker. I take a bath almost every day. It is my time. It is where I read. It is how I warm up from the cold. It is how I relax... Baths are my jam. I am pretty sure I need a tub like this in my life. Merry Christmas to me?

Someday....

More shiplap, only this time in a soft blue. And if you are a fan of singing in the rain, that amazing shower will have you singing every morning!

The bathroom is spacious with his and hers sinks for getting ready, and a separate room for the private business. I am a huge fan of the arm sconces over the mirrors and adding a dresser for extra decorative storage.

The final room on the tour is the mudroom/laundry room.

This space connects the garage and the kitchen, and a simple bench combined with hooks offers enough storage and seating to create an easy going drop-zone. Now that we recently added a folding counter over our washer and dryer, I do have to wonder where drying and folding clothes take place? I absolutely love having drying racks, hangers, and counter space, and am not sure I would enjoy having a laundry room without any of those key components.

So although I would add some extra functionality, I do love that there is a pattern on the wall, the appliances are pretty fancy and sleek and the faucet is another touch activated beauty that would be insanely helpful in a laundry/mudroom. And can you spot the electrical panels? #genius

Now that you have taken the grand tour with me, are you ready for another interesting fun fact about this house? Almost all of the furnishings seen throughout the entire home were purchased from Wayfair! I think HGTV was really trying to create a home that is versatile, family focussed, obtainable and relatable, all while adding in some majorly dreamy aspects in the way of location, appliances, hardware, finishes and materials.

I can't thank Delta enough for sending me on this crazy fun whirlwind trip; it was so interesting and neat to see what an HGTV Dream Home is made of. And I love that I got to share the entire tour with you!

So what do you think? Did any of the spaces catch your eye or offer up a new idea for your own home? Do you have a favorite room in this house? What do you think of all of the green? It is definitely a hot color right now! Oh, and I really have to know, what has been your favorite HGTV Dream Home to date?
