21 March Challenge: Project "Household Binder" {Home Maintenance}

All free printables mentioned within the post are now expired and available for sale!  Please check out my Etsy Shop for a large selection of personalized printables to fit all of your household organizing needs!

  Thank you!

This one is all you guys!  So a giant virtual hug and smooch to you for suggesting a Home Maintenance checklist be added to the Household Binder.  Where was I on that one?  It seems to clearly obvious and necessary now but it wasn't on my original list.... It's true that I have never claimed to be the brightest bulb...

In fact, up til now, I have been using my cleaning checklist to write down typical home maintainable reminders...

I just recently laminated and transferred our cleaning checklist to our Household Binder, that way I can just use a dry erase marker to check off completed tasks!

But you all were so right.  A Home Maintenance checklist is a whole different can of worms, although, they also go hand in hand.  So right behind the cleaning checklist, I also laminated a Home Maintenance checklist!

It actually is a two sider, front and back....

I actually Googled around for some good checklists since I am definitely not the expert in this department.  And then I found this one here, which seemed to be pretty detailed and cover the whole world of home maintenance items.

I decided to just use the great list found on the www, and copy it into my own checklist {of course, I sourced my resource at the bottom}.

I just plan to X off the items that don't pertain to us!  Enjoy a free copy for you all as well!

So thank you for all of your comments and suggestions.  Although I can't create every single chart for every scenerio, hopefully you keep the suggestions coming and enjoy the freebies thus far!

I decided a little challenge would be fun! This month we are creating a Home Management Binder!  Wanna Join in?  Take photos and blog about your awesomeness as you go!  I am hoping to do a giant, "We did it!" celebratory post where we can all link up our binder creating success stories at the end of the month!

  2. Seems great! I love the colors you use. By the way, I think these are great to use in a FlyLady style Control Journal as well!

  6. What a great list! I'm looking forward to implementing all of your ideas as the days and weeks and years go on! As a new wife, I'm collecting all of these great ideas so that I can START organized instead of having to get that way...hopefully it works!

I wanted to make a little suggestion on your list for home maintenance. This may be because my dad is a fireman and I'm always conscious about these things, but smoke detector batteries should actually be tested every month to make sure they're working. I just wanted to let you know because I want everyone to be safe!

Thanks for bearing with my fire safety conscience :)

  8. I loooooove this! You had already inspired me to start my own family binder, but this 'home log' is going to be so much easier then trying to remember on my own, when I need to be doing these things. I'll be heading to the store for printer ink, and I'll be placing an order with you soon for the 'Cleaning Schedule'. Do you just want last name for that or, if I order the PDF will I be able to type in my own cleaning to do's? I'm still debating if I want it laminated or not, I love dry erase, but the ink dust after you wipe drives me nuts.

  9. I have a HUGE question. So all these printables are free for the month of March. Yay! Except... I'm on vacation next week with no internet. Oh no! What if Jen posts a printable that I won't be able to download because I get back April 2nd?! So is there any way those of us who may be gone due to spring break can still benefit from free printables beyond March 31st?

  10. I heart your blog! I look forward to your posts every day! I've been working on my home management binder for awhile now so to have this whole month dedicated to just that has been great. I've needed it so much in the past few days. So excited for the linkup and to see what everyone else is doing!

  12. Hi Suki! I will probably extend the "Free" printables through the first week of April. After that, I will be selling them individually and as a package in my Etsy shop.

    Thanks again!

    xoxo,
    Jen

  13. I just want to say that I'm very much enjoying this project. It's helped me re-visit my old binder (hadn't changed much in it since about 2009) and improve the functionality and aesthetic tremendously. :) I concur that it's very Flylady friendly.

  16. Creating a checklist for cleaning your home is truly helpful! There are times that we forget some tasks, so I think using this will lessen the possibilities of skipping home tasks. I guess this is also useful for offices; especially if you have a lot of workloads.

  19. Whoa, great idea to come up with a home maintenance checklist! I usually read up on DIY sites like HouseLogic for ideas, but I bet I could get a lot more done with a checklist :]

  20. Thank you for the PDF checklist. I like to stay organized so this will help!

  21. This is a great list. I would add cleaning the vents, which is often forgotten. Ceiling vents, bathroom vents, kitchen vents can all get built up with hair, dirt, and allergens that can make you sick or cause respiratory issues. Remember to perform high dusting every couple of months to keep your house clean.
