246 Thirteen82 Chronicles: Update & Color Scheme Vote

Well, the voting has ended and the majority has decided that light fixture number one is the chosen one!

Yes, the others "look" like outdoor lights because they are in fact, outdoor lights.  The point is to give Emily's space a lake house feel without getting too "themey".  Here are a couple examples of where outdoor lights have worked lovely inside:

{1 / 2 / 3}

But, winner winner, you selected this Pottery Barn light fixture!

Wait, what?  $180 for two?  That is over half of the entire bed and bath budget!

The intention was to find inspiration.  Now, it's our turn to knock it off on our budget.  And I have a plan for that, you will just have to stay tuned!

If you follow along on Facebook, you may have seen that Emily and I did some thrifting last week for the project.

We scored a $5 headboard from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore:

OK, so it's an old old door.  But it's going to be a rockin' headboard, just you wait!

A soap pump for $4!

And a cute bucket to place on the counter and fill with toiletries or wash clothes, for $2:

But now it's time to start painting!  Painting the walls, the headboard, the bucket....  So we need a color plan!

Thanks to my friend, Pinterest, I have stumbled across two websites that help with coming up with great color combinations and inspiration. Design Seeds and Photo Card Boutique.  They take a basic photo, and snag the beautiful colors to give you a fantastic color scheme.

Here are a couple we have our eyes on for this guest bathroom/bedroom makeover.  Which would you pick?

All are a bit similar, but so different!

This is where you come in!  Leave a comment on this post with which number you would love to see in her new space!

Voting goes from now through this Sunday, 3/11.

We will be sure to share before and after pictures, project updates, cost breakdowns and sources as we begin working on the two rooms, so stay tuned!

  2. #2. Warm and cozy, but still keeps the brightness of the greens/blues. LOVE. Can't wait to see!!!

  3. It's hard to choose between 1 and 3! But if I had to choose just one, I'd go with #1.

  4. I absolutely love the first color combo. The colors blend so well with each other without looking like a rainbow. Definitely would look awesome in a bathroom! All the combos would look good though :)

  5. for a bedroom/bathroom I like the colors in 1 best!

    ReplyDelete
  6. #1!
1 & 2 seem very similar to me, but I think I like the grey more in # 1 versus the taupe in #2.
Great color scheme; i heart anything turquoise!! :)

  7. #1!

Althought I do love the shower curtain in #2.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Number 1! Love the greys in there!

    ReplyDelete
  9. #1! It's got the nice pop of accents with two soothing background colors. #2 and #3 seem too busy to me. Just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  10. #1! It's by far the warmest and most inviting!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I like #1 the best too. I can't wait to see what you do. :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Number 1. I like that the painted bits are quite neutral, I think this is key and then there are pops of aqua and green.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would say #1 or #2 but probably #2 from the perspective of the outside of her house!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Loving number 1! Great choice on the style of light fixture too, can't wait to see what piece you actually purchase and where you find it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like 1 or 2 but think I would go with 2 (using the outside of her house as by bouncing board)!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. #1, but also love #3- brighter and more youthful.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I heart 2! Just has that lake vibe - the other two seem a touch too bright for that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. My vote is for #1 - it's a very soothing combination!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Number 3, just because of #36B0BB!

    ReplyDelete
  20. My vote is for Number 3. The colors seem softer and more relaxing for a bedroom. Love them all though. You certainly can't go wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love #2. The colors seems to blend so well together.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I vote for number 1..probably because its very close to my own bed/bath color scheme. Love all three though..but 1 is my fave!

    ReplyDelete
  23. #1. I like that it has some more neutrals, and the colors are bold, but muted.

  25. I like number 1 the very best!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like #1! They are all so similar and I liked different things about each. Very fun project to work on!

    ReplyDelete
  27. another split vote- #1 or #2. There might be a few too many colours in #2 for me - a bit busy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. #1-love the grays!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 1 is my favorite, 2 is my second favorite. I like that they are a bit calmer than the 3rd palatte.

    ReplyDelete
  30. #1 for this project because it seems to be more soothing than the other choices, although I like them all...

    ReplyDelete
  31. #3 - colors are brighter :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would choose #1 because I am in love with the color gray at the moment. I also think that the first option has colors that are more peaceful and aren't too loud for the space. They are inviting!

    ReplyDelete

  36. #3#3#3#3#3!!!

    It just feels like water!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ok, I love them all but I think #2 is just above the others...I think it's the darker blue that gives that scheme a little more 'grounding.'

    ReplyDelete
  38. I like #2 the best - love that palette.

Side note: be careful with greens in bathrooms (especially with wall color) - it makes your skin look awful when you're getting ready (even in good light). We learned the hard way...

    ReplyDelete
  39. My favorite is #1 because those colors remind me of a spa and would be great in a bathroom space. They are very fresh and airy colors. #3 would be my second choice if you want a little more pop in the room from brighter. more saturated colors.

    ReplyDelete
  40. #1... and I'm really disappointed that the second light fixture didnt win! :( Can you bring it to my house instead?! lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think I like the boldness of #3

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am in love with #3! That light blue at the bottom is fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  43. #1. I love the grey tones with the pop of {slightly} peacocky blue and lemon-limey green.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love color combo #1. What a fun process...can't wait to see the finished project!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Number one is great - love the pop of color!

    ReplyDelete
  46. #1 would be my choice. I love the door you got great find it is going to make a fantastic headboard!

    ReplyDelete
  47. #2 is my choice. I like the balance of colors. #1 does not have enough pop for my taste and #3 the bold colors conflict too much!

    ReplyDelete
  48. #2 is my favorite BUT I don't see how you could wrong with ANY of the choices!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like #2 the best...maybe because those are very similar to the colors in my home!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I vote #2! They are all close, but this one is my favorite. Your finds seem to look like they might fit in without having to be painted.

    ReplyDelete
  51. No. 1 definitely, I want those in my bedroom now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. #2! Love that shower curtain!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I like 2 best. It has the prettiest blends of those hues you're after, especially for a casual, not-too-themey lake house feel.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 2. I tend to lean towards more muted colors.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like #2. All the choices are great but I think #2 has the most soothing combination. What better for the master bedroom/bath choice?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi Jen, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for featuring our color palettes, it is very appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I like #1, but 2 is close.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I vote for #1, it looks very "lake" to me.

    ReplyDelete
  59. #1. I love how it's a bit more gray than the others.

    ReplyDelete
  60. So funny....I just bought that shower curtain this weekend! I love it and have put it in my newly painted bathroom. Anyway I would go with choice #1.

    ReplyDelete
  61. color scheme number 2 is my fav.

    ReplyDelete
  62. #1 :) Happy Painting!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. in love with the grey green and teals of #1!

    ReplyDelete
  64. #3 #3 #3!!!!!

That dark kelly green is so great!

    ReplyDelete
  65. My vote is for #2 - so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  66. My vote is for #2 - so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  67. #2--so pretty!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. loving number 1 all the way!! the grey really adds something to the fun colors - a nice vintage-y feel, especially with the future headboard and accessories you got!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Number 2!! The colors sem to just blend together beautifully. But all of them are pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Numero uno...all the way! :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. #2 (although any would look fantastic)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Love them all, but number 3 is my favorite, as it has a bit more "blue". :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Number 3. I like the bolder colors.

    ReplyDelete
  74. #2 for SURE! I'm sensing more of an organic, earthy vibe with those colors which should be good for that lake vibe?!

    ReplyDelete

    1. just want to say "vibe" one more time :P (my bedtime is coming up) lol

  75. For my home I'd probably choose the "cleaner" colors of #3, but for this home I'd choose #1. I think it would look wonderful

    ReplyDelete
  76. I would go with #2. It's lovely

    ReplyDelete
  77. My first instinct is to go with color palette #1! Tough choice though!

    ReplyDelete
  78. #1 gets my vote :D

    ReplyDelete
  79. I like number one, because of the grays.

    ReplyDelete
  80. My vote is definitely for #2!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Love Number 1!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I vote for No. 2.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I am going against the majority and saying #2. Her floors are a warm tone as is the trim work(not sure if you are keeping that or not) but think the tan will go better with the floors then a light gray. Can't wait to see :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Voting for color combo #1. You get the blues but it's muted down with the olive green.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Its a tough call between #1 and #2. I can't decide if I like the grays or the greens more

    ReplyDelete
  86. My vote is for #1. Love the colors!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I prefer #2! The greens in that color combo are more appealing to me.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I really like #2 but there are a LOT of colors in here! Take the top color (beige) and add it to #3 and that may be the perfect set of colors. I think I really like the periwinkle blue at the bottom of #3 because it adds to the "lake" of the scheme.

    ReplyDelete
  89. #1 (loving that last color...soft green, beautiful!)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I like all of them, but I think of the three I like #3 just a bit more than the others.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Although I adore the shower curtain in #2, I like the overall color scheme in #3. My vote is #3!

  92. #2, I love the "greige" and the brown undertones make the colours warmer. If you lived in a warm climate I would go with #1 as the greys are lovely, but I find sometimes can be cold, especially at minus temperatures and snow!

    ReplyDelete
  93. #1 - soothing with pops of color

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love 2! I've been wanting to do something similar in my own master bath. Thanks so much for the links to Design Seeds & Photo Card Boutique. They are going to be so helpful! :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. I like #2 best. No, wait ... #3. Uh, no ... #1. No, no ... #2. Yes, that's it ... #2. Definitely #2. Unless ... no, never mind. #2 it is. :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. I would pick # 1 because the tones are more muted, but not too muted. These colors have a lively earthy feel.
