Hi Jen!
I would love to be featured in a Reader's Space Edition by sharing how I organized my Craft Nook/Office! I live in a tiny town home and needed to utilize my space efficiently without bulky boxes or bins! I wanted character in every inch of the room and I love how it turned out! I hope it's up to par for a feature on your amazing blog- it would be a dream come true! {the full link: http://ordyandjoon. blogspot.com/2011/02/yes-i- love-to-use-my-ellipses.html } It's important to note that my budget for this room was $0... Let me explain, I'm on a strict student budget and can't justify redoing my office "just because"... I knew I needed to do it but I only let myself re-purpose things! It definitely got the creative juices flowing. {I also allowed myself to spend whatever money I made from selling the previous decorations}... I love the result!
I re-purposed a thrifted bathroom cabinet into a stationery cabinet to house my crafty things (usually things with wires like embossers and hot glue guns)! I used the towel rod on the cabinet for stickers that I use to close packages and such. I re-purposed a $3 Goodwill shelf to properly display all my rubber stamps instead of having them tossed in a container {the duplicate owl stamp is a result of the prior organizing and lack of knowing what I already had}! Now not only do I know what I own, I think it looks great as decoration!
I organized all my sewing thread on a display rack, but placed it in the middle of another thrift store find- a $1 frame and it became instant {practical} artwork!
The desk seat is actually a full sized ottoman housing things that I need but don't need to display! The apothecary jars have been re-purposed to house glue sticks, stamping materials, and scrap-booking items... it's my favorite method of organizing in the entire office! I used a lot of clear bins and jars to keep myself accountable in two ways: 1} know what I own and not repurchase 2} keep everything clean and in order! It works, trust me! Mason jars are re-purposed to hold labels for the things I sew, buttons, nick-knacks, and chalk for the chalkboard wall. Instead of a mess of fabric scraps, I keep them neatly folded in their own clear bins.
I hope you like what you see and have room in your busy schedule to hopefully feature me! I would die happy! Thanks for your time!
And when I saw the pictures of her incredible space along with her great solutions mentioned above, I seriously couldn't wait to feature her! She is so smart when it comes to organizing and emphasized so many of the tips repeated throughout this blog. Clear storage, re-purposing what you have, getting creative and using the non-typical storage items for storage. Check check check. Ready to be blown away and inspired to get creative?
I present to you Joon's office/crafting space:
So so so much fun right? Who wouldn't be creatively inspired in this fantastic space? You can snag all of the great details over on Joon's blog! I don't even have a clue how to sew and I want to create some thread artwork like. So much fun!
I love how incredibly pretty and playful it is. I love that the organization was done in such a resourceful way. I love that the space is unique and filled with personality and functionality!
And a button for you:
What's your favorite part? Anyone find some great inspiration that they can't wait to use in their own space? Did this spark any great way so re-purpose something that you already have, to use it for storage? Anyone else envious of this incredibly wonderful sized office/craft space? Leave some love for Joon for a job greatly done!
